Desired Hardware

For the longest time I am waiting for someone to create an USB key format network adapter that has builtin firewall, antivirus and VPN software and is activated by fingerprint authentication. For corporations this kind of device would help a lot with edge control and also help preventing outbreaks when non-corporate devices are attached to [...]

The technique uses the relative position of the atoms in a molecule to
quickly match molecules of a similar shape. This is a crucial step in
modern drug discovery, since similarly shaped molecules are like to
have similar bioactive effects, such as being able to bind to the same
protein, triggering a similar medicinal effect in the human body.

For the longest time I was looking for a search engine that would make my life easier for Research related searches. Google is great but it does not always return focused results especially if the site I am looking for is at the fringes of the web and does not have too many connecting links. [...]

You see these images pop up everywhere. Custom magazine covers… And I was thinking that people have all this free time in their hands and they build it from scratch using Photoshop or similar tools.. They were trying to identify fast moving objects and model them separately then the static backgrounds for example. That way one can compress the video drastically [...]

Software Virtualization

For years I wished there was a software that would "contain" software that I install just to test, not to keep on my primary machine (unless the software was super useful). Sometimes there is need to install a software that conflicts with others or leaves too much dirt behind when uninstalled, corrupting the registry and [...]

Using abinitio type of calculations scientist simulated a virus at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The experiment lasted only 50 nanoseconds (real time, not computation time) because of enourmous computational load.More on this story…

I have more than 2 machines that I use to surf the web. On all of these machines I am running Foldershare to sync documents. I use Firefox on all of these machines and I use only one machine at a time. All of the machines have very similar bookmark structure and I want them to be the same. I want the changes to propagate.

This is a great site with a vast collection of various network visualisations. Browsing through the networks gives one great ideas about representing data. Check it out. [visualcomplexity.com | A visual exploration on mapping complex networks]
